FUNDA Code of Conduct

General

If you are not permitted to do something outside the convention, it is not permitted at FUNDA.

FUNDA is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and enjoyable environment for the fan community. All attendees are expected to behave responsibly, respectfully, and in accordance with all applicable laws. Individuals who violate this Code of Conduct may be removed from the event without refund and may be prohibited from attending future FUNDA events.

Behaviour

All FUNDA attendees, guests, vendors, exhibitors, staff, partners, and volunteers are expected to treat one another with respect, courtesy, and kindness. We are all here to celebrate our shared interests and have a great time together.

To maintain a safe, secure, and family-friendly environment, the following activities are strictly prohibited at FUNDA:

  • Engaging in any activity prohibited by law.
  • Engaging in disruptive, unsafe, or reckless behaviour that endangers or disturbs attendees, guests, vendors, staff, partners, or volunteers.
  • Physical, verbal, or written harassment of any participant.
  • Excessive noise or behaviour that interferes with the enjoyment or operation of the event.
  • Any act that creates a significant risk of injury to people or damage to property.
  • Sexual misconduct, including indecent exposure, unwanted touching, or sexual harassment.
  • The use of laser pointers, laser-aiming devices, or similar equipment in public areas unless specifically authorized as part of an official FUNDA presentation, workshop, exhibit, or event.
  • Distribution of flyers, business cards, promotional materials, samples, or giveaways anywhere on convention grounds—including entrances and exits—without prior written authorization from FUNDA.
  • Any unwanted physical contact, including hugging, kissing, back-slapping, groping, or similar behaviour, without the recipient’s clear consent.

Individuals who violate these rules will be instructed to stop immediately. FUNDA reserves the right to remove any individual from the event and deny re-entry if the behaviour continues or is considered serious. Violations involving illegal activity may also be referred to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.

Food and Beverages

  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted unless required for medical conditions, allergies, dietary restrictions, or infant care.
  •  Only sealed, resealable water bottles are permitted in these areas.
  • Attendees are expected to dispose of all food waste and packaging responsibly and help keep the venue clean.
  • Individuals who misuse food and beverage privileges or intentionally damage venue property may be removed from the event.

Anti-Harassment Policy

FUNDA is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

This policy applies to all participants, including attendees, guests, speakers, exhibitors, artists, vendors, volunteers, contractors, partners, sponsors, and staff.

Prohibited Conduct

FUNDA is a place where fans can celebrate their interests, meet creators and special guests, and express themselves freely in a respectful environment.

The following conduct is prohibited:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, colour, national origin, religion, creed, political belief, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
  • Sexual harassment, including unwanted sexual attention, stalking, inappropriate comments, or unsolicited physical contact.
  • Abusive, threatening, intimidating, or obscene behaviour.
  • Physical or verbal harassment directed toward attendees, guests, vendors, exhibitors, staff, or volunteers.
  • Offensive signs, images, jokes, slurs, cartoons, gestures, or unwanted physical contact.
  • Harassing or intimidating behaviour conducted in person, by email, through websites, or on social media.
  • Physical violence or threats of violence.
  • Sexually explicit or inappropriate communications or behaviour.
  • Photographing or filming individuals in a manner that is invasive, exploitative, degrading, or intended to harass.

What Constitutes Harassment

Harassment includes verbal, written, visual, online, or physical conduct directed at an individual based on a protected characteristic that:

  • Creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.
  • Unreasonably interferes with a person’s ability to participate in the event.
  • Has the purpose or effect of humiliating, degrading, or intimidating another person.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Slurs, epithets, or negative stereotyping.
  • Threatening or intimidating behaviour.
  • Offensive jokes, comments, memes, emails, text messages, or online posts.
  • Repeated unwanted attention or persistent unwanted interaction.
  • Applying harmful stereotypes or discriminatory assumptions.

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome sexual comment, gesture, request, advance, or physical contact that a reasonable person would find offensive, intimidating, or humiliating, whether occurring once or repeatedly.

Reporting Harassment or Retaliation

FUNDA cannot address inappropriate behaviour unless it is made aware of it.

Anyone who experiences or witnesses harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other prohibited conduct is encouraged to report it immediately to a FUNDA staff member, volunteer, or event security.

Individuals who feel comfortable doing so may choose to inform the person responsible that their behaviour is unwelcome and must stop. However, this is never required before making a report.

Reports should be made as soon as possible so that appropriate action can be taken. Staff may request a written statement to assist with the investigation.

If anyone believes they are in immediate danger or their personal safety is at risk, they should contact venue security or local law enforcement immediately.

All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. Investigations may include interviews with the individuals involved and any witnesses. FUNDA will maintain confidentiality to the greatest extent possible while conducting a fair investigation and taking appropriate corrective action.

Enforcement

If it is determined, either through observation or following an investigation, that an individual or group has violated this Code of Conduct, FUNDA may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Issue a verbal or written warning.
  • Require the individual to immediately stop the prohibited behaviour.
  • Remove the individual from the event without refund.
  • Revoke event credentials and deny re-entry.
  • Ban the individual from future FUNDA events for a period determined by event management.
  • Refer the matter to law enforcement when appropriate.
